Week 5 Technology 

Week 5 of the Blended learning Coaching Academy is spending time explore how to technology to enhance the learning in a blended learning classroom.  By focusing in on generating technology activities that use their devices to create, collaborate, communicate, and critical thinking the lessons will be designed to apply the 21st Century skills.  

As I stated in the mini lesson, so many times I walk into classrooms, I see the technology being used as
  • data collectors
  • power point presentation tools
  • time fillers
  • rewards
  • dust collectors 




Part of my job as a blended learning coach is to teach the teachers how to use the devices to encourage choice and voice.  That is why I love the App Dice.  It give the teachers and the students  a new spin on how to use the devices.  Just the other day, after teaching a Blended learning workshop in North Platte, Nebraska, I had a teacher state, "I want to create App Dice for how to design the a blended learning lesson."  By placing different ways to teach the students content on the dice, then she would be able to vary her lesson to meet all the learning styles of her students.  I love that idea of taking Blooms Taxonomy and turning it into App Dice for blended learning lesson planning while mixing in different technology tools focus in global connection, creativity, collaboration, communication, and of course critical thinking. 

This week instead of having learn and sign up for more technology tools, it is time to start to organize the tools that we have been talking about for the last four weeks.  There are many bookmarking websites out that are great and very useful.  However, I have found one website to extremely useful for my personal use as well as for being a coach.  That website is www.edshelf.com
