Week 3 Project
Now that you have spent time exploring Phase 1 and Phase 2 of blended learning it is time to move onto Phase 3. In Phase 1, the teacher was just learning how to break a part a lesson into three or four stations.
Phase 1 Overview:
• Teacher provides the same content to a small groups of students.
• Digital content is used to help learn the concepts
• Independent activities are the same for all students
• 4C's (Creativity, Collaboration, Communication, & Critical Thinking) are the same activities for all students
• Teacher uses a time to rotate students from one station to the next station
Phase 2 Overview
• Data is used to drive the instruction
• The teacher breaks the students into differentiated groups.
• Students start to move through the content at their own pace
• The use of adaptive technology programs as part of the technology component
• Leveled independent activities
• Leveled mini lessons by the teacher
• Leveled 4C's Activities
To transition teachers to the next phase, we start to allow the students to move at their own pace, place, and path. All of the activities are driven by the data collected from the formative assessments and the adaptive online technology programs.
As a blended learning coach, the transition to phase 2 to phase 3 will be easier than moving from Phase 1 to Phase 2. The biggest hurdle with Phase 3 is having enough content build up to allow the students to move at their own pace. Meaning, once they are ready to test out of a chapter or module, then the student can test out and move onto the next chapter or module.
