Take time to explore how to build and use manipulative for the digital content in a Math Classroom. Article and ideas came from TCEA.
On Wednesday, February 19, a free Kindle copy of How to Create a Perfect School: Maintain Students' Motivation and Love of Learning from Kindergarten through 12th Grade is available for downloading. In the book, author Lee Jenkins shares his methods that have been tested and refined with more than 7,500 students. Enjoy! |
A recent meta-analysis found that the use of virtual manipulatives vs. classroom instruction with textbooks had an effect size of 0.75 (almost two years of growth). Virtual manipulatives were found to be most effective in grades 1-2 (0.56) and 9-12 (0.76).
With that in mind, what virtual manipulatives do you like to use with students? I am a big fan of Polypad, which also has free activities and courses for all grade levels.
